Orthopaedics is a branch of medicine relating to bones, joints and other associated structures that enable movements.
Orthopaedic surgery are mainly categorised in to 2 types : Trauma and elective surgery
Trauma surgery is done after traumatic accidents and injuries, e.g. fixing plate and screws in a broken bone. Elective surgery is a planned surgery like joint replacement, ACL reconstruction or shoulder decompression surgery. Irrespective of nature of surgery, the critical factors of rehabilitation will ensure optimal recovery.
At S2physio, our physiotherapists have in-depth experience in working in orthopaedic rehabilitation post orthopaedic surgery. Critical to this is an understanding of variety of procedures and factors that influence the rehabilitation.
We work in partnership with orthopaedic surgeons understanding each other’s expectations in the context of surgical procedure and rehabilitation.
We do understand, it may be difficult in the initial phases following surgery, our physiotherapists aim to restore and maintain range, increase muscle strength and mobility promoting independence as well as facilitating functional activities.
