Neurological physiotherapy is a specialist branch of physiotherapy dealing with diseases or disorders of nervous system. It relates to anything involving brain and spinal cord, collectively known as Central Nervous System (CNS). When there is a damage to the CNS, it can cause changes in walking, balance, posture and many other issues.
The common neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), isolated neurological events such as Stroke or traumatic brain injury and motor neuron disease can be effectively treated by Physiotherapy.
Neurological Physiotherapy is tailored towards rehabilitation goals of each patient and may involve various treatment methods. This includes education about your condition, re-education of nervous system to help re-educate sensation and movement, postural and balance re-education and exercises.
